Where There’s Smoke, There’s…Ice?

As competitive barbeque season heats up, Plowboys Barbeque is partnering with the Missouri Mavericks hockey team on a unique co-branded BBQ smoker. The new smoker will show off the awardwinning talents of Plowboys owner, Todd Johns, while simultaneously promoting the Mavericks around the region.
The smoker or “pit” is a Yoder Smokers Stretch Cimarron trailer smoker, made in Wichita, Kansas. It uses all wood (for Plowboys that means a blend of pecan and cherry or peach) and is a traditional Texas style offset smoker. It’s covered in the Mavericks team color (bright orange) and prominently branded with Mavericks graphics and logos.
Todd John’s, barbeque chef and restaurateur, sees the partnership as a natural fit. “We’ve been long-time Mavs fans and season ticket holders,” says Johns. “The new smoker allows us to mix business with pleasure, if you will. Not to mention, our original location is minutes from the arena where the Mavericks play, so Mavs fans are frequently also our customers!”
Why Plowboys? “As big of Mavs fans as they are, we are equal Plowboys fans,” says Missouri Mavericks Executive Vice President, Greg Bergen. “Todd has supported us with sponsorship and partnered on community and charitable events for years now. The product he puts out is world class and his customers are instant advocates. That’s exactly what we are trying to accomplish with our team. We are excited for Plowboys to share our brand around the metro.”
Where can you see the smoker? The smoker currently resides at Plowboys location in Blue Springs (3111 SW Missouri 7). It will be on the move, however, as soon as competitive barbeque season begins. Catch it at the following barbeque competitions:
