Fans of Plowboys Barbeque have something new to salivate over in downtown Kansas City.
The Blue Springs-based restaurant opened its second location in early 2015 at the corner of Petticoat Lane and Main Street in the Town Pavilion building. Now, less than two years later, Plowboys has transitioned from that 2,100-square-foot space to a newly remodeled 5,700-square-foot location down the block on the northeast corner of 12th and Main streets.
Previously the home of Ingredient, the location sits directly behind the Metro Center stop on the Kansas City Streetcar line. The new space not only includes significantly greater visibility than the previous location, but it’s also the only major barbecue offering within the immediate business and entertainment district.
Visitors and dinner guests at Plowboys will be able to take advantage of a plethora of new or expanded options, including burnt ends and ribs (now served daily), fresh-cooked fries, locally brewed craft beer and easy access to free public transportation to get to and from the restaurant.
“I think when you are coming to Kansas City, whether you are coming for business or a concert or just for the weekend — one of the things that is on your Kansas City bucket list is having Kansas City barbecue,” said Todd Johns, Plowboys’ chief pit master, who sees the new space not just as a restaurant but as a celebration of Kansas City barbecue.
Before you visit to try the award-winning burnt ends or the best-selling house-made barbecue nachos, take a tour of the new space with our attached photo gallery.
