I’ve hooked up with my friend Dean Bury and am now offering the Mean Dean line of rub and sauce. Dean and his wife Dawn are long time KCBS competitors and caterers in the Kansas City area. Dean was 5th in Pork in the KCBS Team of the Year standings about 3-5 years ago. (Can’t remember quite when.) Mean Dean only does about six contests a year, so that’s quite an accomplishment. Dean gets top calls at contests and uses his own product. Other KCBS teams from Kansas City to Oklahoma use Dean’s rub at competitions.
The rub is a general purpose rub that works well on ribs, pork, and chicken. However, people have been known to use it on scrambled eggs, potatoes, etc. as a table seasoning.
The sauce is a fruit based, sweet sauce. The fruit base is mostly apricot. Smooth and distinctive flavors.
Shaker of Rub - $4
Jar of Sauce - $4
These are better than the local store prices of $5 each. So even the locals should check me out. Next time you Blues Hog guys order sauce or rub from me, think about trying some Mean Dean’s, too.
